Summary of position:
EDC is looking for a highly motivated and experienced business development professional who will work with the EDC Chief Representative MENA in conducting business development efforts and covering the strategic relationships in designated markets. The incumbent will work under the general supervision of the EDC Chief Representative MENA based in Dubai.
The EDC Regional Manager, MENA will be responsible for the following key tasks:
• Originate new business for EDC
• Prepare call planning and prospecting;
• Transaction facilitation on active EDC deals;
• Supporting the planning and development of an overall marketing plan for MENA as well as sector-specific business development plans;
• Corporate representation at public events in MENA as well as during outreach activities in Canada;
• Provide market information;

Essential qualifications:
Education:
Master’s degree from a government recognized university, preferably with a degree in commerce or a related area. A combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.

Language:
A superior command of English is essential, including excellent verbal and writing skills.

Experience:
• At least five (5) years of recent and relevant experience in financial services industry, either in relationship management, sales or underwriting;
• Experience in managing corporate and GRE relationships with a focus on providing financial solutions.
• Experience in developing client and stakeholder relationships, and in obtaining, preparing for, and conducting meetings with important external parties, such as clients or influencers;

Knowledge:
• Solid knowledge of Export Credit Agency, banking environment and international capital markets.
• A strong understanding of financial requirements throughout the life cycle of capital projects and related financing techniques.

• Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver on new business opportunities
• Solid influencing, negotiating, relationship management and highly effective presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with relevant EDC teams and exhibit appropriate leadership and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work autonomously with strong initiative under general guidance of the EDC Chief Representative MENA
• Ability to coordinate conflicting priorities within tight deadlines and meet work targets.
• Ability to write concise reports requiring synthesis and thoughtful analysis of data on international trade, financial and macro-economic issues.
• Ability to identify key account targets and develop and implement account strategies to meet objectives

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
• Ability to read, understand and communicate in Arabic.
• Experience with a broad range of EDC products and a good understanding of EDC’s mandate and business principles
• External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) lending experience.
• Relevant experience working for an Export Credit Agency

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

• Ability to work overtime (evenings and weekends if necessary)
• Annual leave may be restricted due to operational needs
• Willingness to travel internationally
• Willingness to undergo training

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain a UAE residence visa
• Ability to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance). The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to a Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Management. To conduct the Reliability Check (RC), the candidate will have to submit the following documents on being selected by the mission.
o Police clearance certificate (Character Certificate)
o Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years of client service and your address
o Professional and educational certificates and mark sheets (i.e., academic transcripts)
• Maintenance of a valid passport
• As a member of the Canadian diplomatic presence abroad, required to adhere to Canada's Code on Values & Ethics.
