Summary of position:
Reports to the Head of Cooperation. This position provides primary programme and administrative support to the embassy’s Development Assistance Section. Accountable for the proper documentation and mission office processes that underpin Canada’s development funding in Iraq. Responsible for developing and maintaining contact networks, reviewing and drafting programming document, representing the Development Assistance Section in meetings with development stakeholders, and the management of information and documentation in accordance with established policies, guidelines and procedures.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their application how they meet the essential criteria.

Education:
• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or two (2) year’s equivalent experience over and above the experience specified below

Language:
• Fluency in English (oral, written)
• Fluency in Arabic (oral, written)

Experience:
• Three (3) years’ experience working in an office with main duties related to one or all of the following areas – planning, monitoring and evaluation, senior administration, implementation of policies and procedures.

Knowledge:
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices

Ability/Competencies:
• Effective interactive communication
• Network/Alliance building
• Judgement
• Initiative
• Adaptability and flexibility

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Ability to communicate in French
• Experience in a diplomatic mission or international environment

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Must obtain Reliability security clearance and FCO security clearance
• Must be legally entitled to work in Iraq
