Summary of position:
Reporting to BRLIN’s Counsellor, Commercial, with responsibility for several sectors (including residential and commercial construction, infrastructure, logistics, machinery and transportation), contributes to the delivery of the IBD (International Business Development) program at the mission.

Essential qualifications:
Essential qualifications:

Education:
- Higher education degree (minimum Bachelors) in a business related field

Experience:
- Minimum of three years of work experience out of the past seven years in promoting international business development, either in the public or the private sector
- Experience in organizing commercial events

Language:
- Professional level of German (written and spoken)
- Professional level of one of Canada’s official languages – English or French (oral and written)
- Working level knowledge of Canada’s other official language (oral and written)

Rated Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Professional knowledge of client management software
- Extensive knowledge of the German economy notably in at least one important trade sector (e.g. Automotive, Telecommunication, Agriculture)
- Knowledge of trade-related policy as it relates to trade promotion, including free trade agreements.
- Knowledge of Canadian economy

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

- Knowledge of the benefits that the Canada-EU Economic and Trade Agreement will bring to Canadian companies exporting to Germany.
- Experience working in infrastructure, transportation, logistics, machinery or building sectors
- Existing business network in Germany
- Knowledge of economy in Hamburg and northern Germany in sectors of interest to Canadian exporters
- Existing business network in Hamburg and northern Germany in sectors of interest to Canadian exporters
- Work experience at a Canadian diplomatic mission or with a Canadian company

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Ability to travel and work overtime according to operational needs

Condition(s) of Employment:
- Ability to obtain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance
- Valid work permit for Germany at present for an indeterminate period
