Summary of position:
Under general supervision of the Immigration Program Manager or an Officer, supports the delivery of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) Programs through furthering the processing of applications using procedural expertise, assisting an Officer in reporting and liaison, program integrity, Visa Application Centre (VAC) governance, promotion and recruitment activities or other support to clients. Requires a developed knowledge of established guidelines and procedures. Exercises initiative in organizing work, tracking resources, and resolving difficult problems.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
 Degree from college or university

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)

Note: For external candidates who did not complete a Bachelors Degree in an English speaking environment, proficiency in English can be evidenced with one year of professional working in an English speaking office environment OR an IELTS result, general or academic, at minimum band score of “6” across the four modules of reading, writing, listening, and speaking

Experience:

• Minimum one year’s experience working in a general office environment
• Demonstrated experience working on a PC in a network environment

Asset Qualifications:
Preferred standing may be given to those candidates who also meet the following:

Language:
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
• Experience working in an international environment (Previous employment in Canada or in another country; experience working for a multi-national company or international organization in China)
• Experience working with Global Case Management System (GCMS) in a Canadian visa office

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Canadian immigration law, policies, procedures and operations

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
• Able to travel domestically and internationally as required

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance.
