Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the EDC Chief Representative, acts as an experienced assistant and provides information, technical, logistical and administrative support for EDC’s market activities in India in support of EDC’s foreign strategy. The successful candidate is a self-starter, and efficiently carries out research and other special projects assigned by the Chief Representative needed for business development purposes. Using English, Hindi or French independently engages in project management with respect to Business Origination, Account Management, Transaction Facilitation, Corporate Development, Relationship Management, Market intelligence Activities. Also engages in Administrative Support of EDC’s Mumbai representation. The Coordinator may also be asked to provide information and input in the creation, translation and processing of letters, speeches and documents as required by the EDC Chief Representative.

This role also encompasses responsibilities such as individual business development projects, representing EDC to clients while EDC Representatives are travelling, as well as providing guidance and advice to EDC clients and EDC teams.

Essential qualifications:
Mandatory Screening Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from a government recognized university.

Language: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi

Experience: Applicants must have at least three (3) years of recent (within the last five years) relevant work experience in:

•Demonstrated experience working as an Executive Assistant providing support to a senior official in a corporate or Government office;
•Experience in conducting office and administrative procedures, especially providing financial & expense reporting support services;
•Experience in responding to client enquiries, conducting research, preparing well-written and accurate correspondence and other briefing products for the manager;
•Experience in organizing public events designed to promote networking, including working with service providers and other external partners;
•Experience in organizing and maintaining a large network of contacts across various industries and organizations.

Computer Skills: MS-Office (including strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, Internet.

Mandatory Rated Qualifications:


•Strong knowledge of office organizational principles, filing, inventory control, communications logs, and accounting skills.
•Knowledge of financial administration & budgets;
•Knowledge of event and visit management.

•Ability to plan and organize workflow, effectively managing multiple and conflicting demands within tight deadlines;
•Ability to autonomously triage and effectively handle correspondence, including letters, faxes and e-mails;
•Ability to accurately prepare charts, tables, and work plans, and to maintain a calendar of activity and visit programs in an efficient and systematic manner;
•Ability to work independently when required, or as a team member.

Asset Qualifications:
Candidates are encouraged to indicate how they meet the following criteria, where applicable. Not a mandatory criteria:

•Experience/ training in excel based accounting programs/ practices (i.e. synoptic journals, etc.) and knowledge of SAP based accounting programs
•Ability to read, understand and communicate in French and Marathi

Condition(s) of Employment:
The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to a Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Management. To conduct the Reliability Check (RC), the candidate will have to submit the following documents on being selected by the mission.

1.Police clearance certificate (Character Certificate)
2.Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years of client service and your address
3.Professional and educational certificates and mark sheets (i.e., academic transcripts)

The successful candidate may be asked to work extended hours when/ as required.

All employees of the High Commission of Canada and Canadian missions in India; Individuals who are currently residing & eligible to work in India; Spouses/Dependants of Canada-based staff

The results of this competition may also be used to establish an eligibility list to staff similar openings at the Consulate General which may arise in the twelve (12) months following the completion of this competition.
