Term Details:
Indeterminate (Full time) This is a developmental position. The incumbent is appointed to a full Level (LES) 09 position (Designated Immigration Officer), with a higher salary, upon successful completion of the designation process within the prescribed time period. Meeting designation requirements is a condition of employment. Failure to meet will result in the employee being removed from the position.

Essential qualifications:
Mandatory Screening Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree from a recognized university in any discipline;

Experience: At least four (4) years of recent (within the past five (5) years) in:
•Similar position, or
•a position involving: managing complex files, interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and/or procedures as well as direct services to clients

Language: Fluency in English & Hindi (oral & written) and Punjabi (oral).

Please note that the English language skills of the candidates will be assessed using a test administered by the Mission. Candidates who do not achieve the minimum pass marks on this test will be eliminated from this process.

Candidates who demonstrate they have IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and ILSC test results at the said levels must submit their scores along with their candidature. These candidates shall not be re-tested in English. For operational purposes, only the “General Training” option under IELTS is acceptable. Please note that only IELTS and ILSC scores for the last 5 years will be considered. Candidates with IELTS scores are required to submit proof of their scores when applying.

The qualifying IELTS criterion is: No single competency lower than 6 AND an overall band level of 7.0

The qualifying ILSC criterion is: CLB 9 on both Grammar/Reading and Writing Section

Computer Skills: MS-office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, Internet.

•Knowledge of The Government of Canada’s priorities for the coming years.
•Knowledge of Indian documentation, society, and customs (identity, education and employment documents, etc.)
•General knowledge of Indian local laws i.e. family law, Indian penal code, etc.

•Ability to work under pressure and with conflicting priorities
•Ability to analyze and interpret information quickly and efficiently according to established criteria and sound judgement and decision making of Immigration cases

Condition(s) of Employment:
The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to a Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Management. To conduct the Reliability Check (RC), the candidate will have to submit the following documents on being selected by the mission.

•Police clearance certificate (Character Certificate)
•Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years of client service and your address
•Professional and educational certificates and mark sheets (i.e., academic transcripts)

**Candidates must be available to work overtime as and when required**

Area of selection:
All employees of the High Commission of Canada and Canadian missions in India; Individuals who are currently residing & eligible to work in India; Spouses/Dependants of Canada-based staff

Important Notes:

Reference verifications shall be conducted as a part of the hiring process.

The results of this competition may also be used to establish an eligibility list to staff similar openings at the Consulate General which may arise in the twelve (12) months following the completion of this competition.
