Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Section (FPDS) Program Manager provides administrative support to mission programs, carries out translation and interpretation between local languages and English; provides clerical support to the mission programs; and performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or two (2) year’s equivalent experience over and above the experience specified below working in an administrative support capacity.

Language:
• Fluency in English (oral, written)
• Fluency in Arabic (oral, written)
• Fluency in Kurdish (oral, written)

Experience:
• Three (3) years of experience working in an office with main duties related to most or all of the following areas - administration, redaction of official letters, notes and e-mails, research, reporting, translating documents, cultural and media relations, event management, client service and public affairs.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Kurdistan region of Iraq
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Ability to communicate in French
• Experience in a diplomatic mission or international environment

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

• Must obtain Reliability security clearance
• Must be legally entitled to work in Iraq
• The candidate must be eligible to work/be employed in Iraq’s Kurdistan region as work permits are not sponsored

Area of selection:
Open to external applicants residing in Iraq, and to employees occupying an indeterminate or term position at the Office of the Embassy of Canada to Iraq in Erbil and the Embassy of Canada in Baghdad, who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. • The results of this competition may also be used to establish an eligibility list of staff for similar openings in Erbil or Baghdad, which may arise in the 12 months following the completion of this competition.
