Summary of position:
Under the direct supervision of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Liaison Officer (LO), the Liaison Officer Assistant (LOA) will perform a wide range of operational, administrative and clerical support activities to assist the CBSA LO program. The LOA will support the CBSA LO’s efforts to prevent and disrupt border safety and security threats, including risks to Canada originating within or linked to the LO’s area of responsibility (AOR); participate in reporting and intelligence development on cross-border criminal activities and trends involving people and goods; liaise with regional and Canadian enforcement partners, immigration and customs intelligence contacts on a wide range of CBSA mandate issues; assist the LO in expanding border safety and security cooperation with officials in countries in the AOR; professionally represent the LO and CBSA in all communication and networking with representatives of host countries and other organizations; exercise a considerable level of initiative and discretion; perform other administrative duties as may be required; and, during LO absences, perform some activities normally carried out by the LO.

Essential qualifications:
Essential Qualifications

Language:
- Professional level (written and oral) of German
- Professional level (written and oral) of one of Canada’s official languages (English or French)

Education:
- Vocational qualification in business/commerce (completed apprenticeship or higher) or equivalent

Experience:
- Recent* experience as an assistant or executive assistant in an office environment of at least two (2) consecutive or cumulative years in the public or private sector. *Recent is defined as having been obtained within the last five (5) years.

OR

- Recent* experience in a program officer, program assistant or assistant capacity of at least two (2) consecutive or cumulative years in a law enforcement setting, be it in the public or private sectors. *Recent is defined as having been obtained within the last five (5) years.

OR

- Recent* experience of at least (2) consecutive or cumulative years as a check-in agent, document checker, training coordinator, shift supervisor, regulatory officer or station manager within any commercial air carrier operating flights between Germany and Canada or their subcontracted security or handling agencies. *Recent is defined as having been obtained within the last five (5) years.

Asset Qualifications:
Asset Qualification:

- Recent* experience of at least (2) consecutive or cumulative years as a program assistant or in an assistant capacity working in an organization (e.g. Bundespolizei, Zollamt, Bundeskriminalamt, etc.) which has to do with the detection and interdiction of fraudulent documents such as identity documents, currency, etc. *Recent is defined as having been obtained within the last five (5) years.
- Fluency in both official languages of the Government of Canada
- Working level capacity in one of the following languages: Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian or Russian.
