Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Political Counsellor, the incumbent provides secretarial and administrative support to 6 members of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy section, establishes contacts with the missions of the countries accredited to NATO and with various agencies and organizations with a European vocation, for the benefit of mission Agents. He/she coordinates the production of reference documents, organizes meetings and special events in relation to the activities of the Delegation. The incumbent also performs the administrative and budget management functions for the section and coordinates the issuance of NATO security clearances for Canadian citizens

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened based on the essential qualifications in relation to languages, education and experience.

Candidates must demonstrate clearly in their cover letter and/or CV how they meet each of the language, education and experience qualifications. It is not sufficient to simply state responsibilities. They must also demonstrate and explain how they meet the criteria, not simply list the criteria they meet.

• The required level for this position is B1in French and B2 in English, per the European language framework.

• Post-secondary diploma or secondary diploma combined with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in an administrative role within an office environment.

• A minimum of 2 years (depending on the education, as described above) of recent* experience working in an administrative role within an office environment ;
• Experience in the coordination or logistical support for the organization of conferences and/or events.

*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.

Knowledge :
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Abilities :
• Ability to organize, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize;
• Ability to analyze information and perform administrative and financial tasks;
• Ability to work independently and under pressure, in a proactive and responsible manner.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their cover letter.
• Working experience for the Government of Canada or an Embassy of Canada or the Canadian Armed Forces.

Operational Requirements:
• Willing to work overtime including on week-ends and statutory days with or without notice according to operational requirements;
• Normal Hours of work: 37.5 hours / week (Monday to Friday

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Be a Canadian citizen;
• Reside in Belgium at the time of employment offer is issued and for the duration of the employment;
• Detain or be eligible to obtain a government of Canada SECRET level clearance and maintain it for the duration of the employment.
