General Support

Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the MCO, provides transportation, delivery and errand services to all mission programs including the Head of Mission (HOM) program, arranges for car maintenance, and provides basic administrative, maintenance and support services to the mission following established mission and departmental policies.

Note: the incumbent must be proficient in English to sufficiently understand instructions and communicate information as required to carry out the duties below and communicate with local authorities/traffic wardens where and if required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

• Secondary Education

• Fluency in English (oral and written)

• Minimum 3 years recent* experience in a job role with a main duty of driving
• Recent* experience in general office support/running errands

*Recent is defined as within the last 3 years.

Rated Requirements:
Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. These may be assessed at a later stage through any of the following: written exam, interview, role-play, practical test, presentation and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Candidates may also be screened against the Asset Qualifications. Preference may be given to candidates who meet these asset qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Fluency in French (oral and written)
• Experience working for an Embassy or an international organization.
• Experience dealing with VIPs/dignitaries
• Knowledge of Canada

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work irregular hours and/or overtime essential
• Required to wear a uniform
• Able to do physical tasks such as lift heavy boxes, clean cars.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• A valid work authorization covering the entire employment period. If the employment is indeterminate, the work authorization should be permanent or itself lead to a permanent work authorization (please note that the Embassy of Canada to Ireland does not sponsor work authorizations directly or indirectly).
• Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide a local address as proof of residence in the specific country, city or region, so that if selected, it will appear on the offer letter.
• Able to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance)
• Current clean driver’s licence
• Valid passport
