Summary of position:
Under supervision, provides business management and executive administrative support services to the Senior Trade Commissioner and officers of the Trade Section. Duties include: organizing meetings and events, providing research, maintaining budget, processing invoices and claims for payment, data entry and preparing letters or reports for signature; and performing other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• University degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education and 2 years of work experience as an Executive Assistant

Language:
• Fluent English (spoken, written, comprehension)
• Fluent Arabic (spoken, written, comprehension)

Experience:
• 2 years of recent* administrative experience supporting a team
• Experience of planning and co-ordinating events
• Experience in working with budgets and accounting procedures
*Recent is defined at within the past 5 years

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of standard office suite software applications (Microsoft applications, Excel, Word, Outlook) and other accounting packages/financial systems
• Knowledge of administrative processes, budget and accounting procedures and standard office procedures and practices
• Knowledge of general business research skills

Ability/Competencies:
• Client Focus, ability to provide quality services to clients
• Effective Interactive Communication-oral and written
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise and meet deadlines
• Ability to function as part of and contribute to a team
• Flexibility and adaptability
• Attention to detail

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Advanced level of French – spoken, written, comprehension
• Previous experience in a Government or Public Sector environment

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Working hours 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week
• Ability to work overtime occasionally outside normal working hours

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Obtain necessary Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance.
• Successful completion of a one year probation period.
• Possess a valid work permit or no impediments to obtaining a UAE employment visa.
