Summary of position:
Under general supervision, the Immigration clerk provides clerical and administrative support to the fully computerized Immigration Section; assist in the case processing; and participates in a system of rotation to perform other duties.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of a Canadian Bachelor's degree from a recognized university
or
• Minimum of a BAC + 1 diploma and an acceptable combination of post-secondary education and experience (4 + years).
or
• BAC and experience working at the Embassy of Canada (2+ years)

Language:
• Fluency in French (oral and written)

Experience:
• At least *1 year of cumulative work experience in an administrative position in an Embassy or a development agency, consulate or a UN agency.

*1 year cumulative experience is defined as within the last 5 years

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.

Abilities/Competencies:
• Ability to plan and organize workload, as well as to establish and manage priorities.
• Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.
• Ability to make appropriate decisions in exercising discernment, sound judgment, and ethical and professional integrity.
• Demonstrate initiative, team spirit, tact and discretion.
• Client focus and interpersonal relations.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Ability to communicate in English at an intermediate level (oral and written).
• Experience in the use of standard computer applications (e.g., word processing, internet, e-mail, spreadsheet, web applications and database).
• General knowledge of Canada and the Canadian immigration legislation.
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices in an Immigration or Consular Section of an embassy.
• Knowledge of Government of the Canada software.

Operational Requirements:
• Respect set work hours and show flexibility with assigned duties.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• To obtain and maintain a security clearance from the Government of Canada (it is recommended but non-binding to be in possession of your criminal record at the time of the interview).
• Meet the medical requirements as defined by the employer.
• Senegalese nationality or to hold a valid work as a resident of Senegal permit.
