Program Support, Migration Section

Summary of position:
Under general supervision, provides program and processing support to the Migration Section and assists in case processing of applications assigned to officers; provides clerical services; and participates in a system of rotation to perform other duties.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• Degree from college or university

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking)

Proficiency in English will be evaluated during the in-person interview phase and written test. A benchmark of proficiency is at minimum band 6 across the four modules of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Experience:
• Experience in dealing with the general public and/or client service
• Experience working in a general office environment
• Experience working on a PC in a network environment, including experience using mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications
Experience is defined as having the equivalent to at least three (3) months full time work over a 2 year period

• Review, assess and accurately enter information into databases, spreadsheets etc.

Asset Qualifications:
Language:
• High Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking)
• Proficiency in Mongolian (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
• Experience working and/or studying in an international environment (Previous employment in Canada or in another country (outside mainland China); experience working for a multi-national company or international organization in China)
• Experience working with Global Case Management System (GCMS) in a Canadian visa office

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Canadian immigration policy and procedures

• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

Conditions of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance.
