Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Property Assistant, maintains, installs and repairs basic plumbing and electrical equipment, systems and appliances; actions work orders; maintains working relations with appropriate suppliers; assesses and supply gas and water inventory; collect and deliver goods (such as mail, gas, water) and performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
Education:
• Secondary education certificate
• Technical and/or professional diploma, or combination of acceptable experiences (3 years at least) in these following fields; plumbing, electricity, carpentry, masonry
Language:
• Working level in English (oral and written)

Experience:
• Recent* experience working as a handyman position in a diplomatic mission, government agency or multinational company
• Recent experience working with Air Conditioning units
• Recent experience working with generators
• Recent experience working in electrical repairs

*Recent is defined as the last 3 years

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of plumbing, electricity, carpentry, masonry
• Knowledge of computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Abilities/Competencies:
• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English
• Able to complete and relay facts related to incidents (flooding, breakages, etc)
• Ability to plan and organise work, co-ordinate conflicting priorities, perform to tight deadlines and prioritize work

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Relevant training in plumbing, electricity, carpentry, masonry
• French (oral and written)

• Required to be in good health
• Overtime will be required depending on operational needs

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record and credit check)
• A medical examination (paid for by the High Commission) will be part of the final selection process
