Summary of position:
The High Commission of Canada is looking for candidates to join their HR teams (local and regional) to assist with the delivery of HR programs and services to our High Commission in London and to a number of other Canadian Embassies located in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The duties will include supporting an HR Officer with HR processes in one or more of the following area: leave and attendance, payroll, staffing, training, planning, classification as well as providing day to day HR support and ad-hoc HR tasks which include providing administrative support and advice and assistance to clients in London and throughout the region.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process:

Education & Experience: The candidate must have all of the following:
• A diploma or a degree with a specialization in one of the HR discipline in addition to 2 years of recent* experience working in an office environment in an administrative support or program assistant capacity
• A minimum of A-levels or equivalent in addition to 2 years of recent* experience working in HR in an office environment.

• Experience of using IT systems for data entry, data maintenance, and creating reports
• Experience in providing services to clients and problem-solving as part of a team.
*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.

Linguistic Profile: Fluency in English & French

Rated Requirements
Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: written test, oral communication, interview and reference checks.
• General knowledge of HR disciplines
• Standard office procedures and practices
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Effective interactive communication – Oral and Written
• Attention to detail
• Ability to plan and organize workload, as well as to establish and manage priorities in a high-paced work environment
• Flexibility and Adaptability
• Professional Integrity

Asset Qualifications:
The High Commission has the right to further screen on Asset Qualifications and as such, preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates should also clearly demonstrate in their cover letter if they meet these qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or college with a major in Human Resources or other related field*
• CIPD certificate.
• Experience working for a High Commission or Embassy.
• Experience of working with an applicant tracking system.

*other related field is defined as a Bachelor’s degree with modules taken in Human Resources.

Occasional overtime may be required.

Condition(s) of Employment:
Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor. Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record check).
Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process. Successful candidate must have a valid passport and the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK. Documentation will be required.

Important Notes:
This position is open to candidates currently resident in the UK, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK without restriction, who meet all of the essential requirements stated and whose applications are received by the closing date. Those candidates holding visas not renewable in the UK - such as the Youth Mobility Visa will be eligible to apply for this position providing the expiry date of their visa exceeds the full period of employment (to at least August 2019).
