Summary of position:
Reporting to the Manager of the Regional Emergency Management Office (REMO) at the Consulate General of Canada in Dubai, delivers regional emergency management services to Government of Canada missions in the Middle East and Africa regions; coordinates and delivers training; develops and delivers tabletop and functional exercises; provides emergency management guidance, advice and tools; develops and maintains productive relationships with host authorities, international organizations and other diplomatic missions.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
Successful completion of a university degree from a recognized university

Language:
• Fluency in English (both oral and written)
• Fluency in French (both oral and written)

Experience:
• Experience working in an office environment for a minimum of five (5) years.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of emergency management principles

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
• Knowledge of Arabic
• Master’s degree in a related field e.g. emergency management
• Experience working for a diplomatic mission or an international organization
• Experience working in emergency management, consular services or a related field
• Experience delivering training
• Experience developing and/or delivering emergency management drills, simulations, and/or exercises

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work regular overtime (evenings and weekends)
• Annual leave may and local statutory holidays be restricted due to operational needs
• Prepared to travel internationally on a monthly basis for weeks at a time
• Ability to work in diverse international and cultural environments
• Willingness to undergo training


Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain a UAE residence visa
• Ability to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance)
• Maintenance of a valid passport
• As a member of the Canadian diplomatic presence abroad, required to adhere to Canada's Code on Values & Ethics.
