Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Contract and Procurement Officer, the Common Service Delivery Point Contract and Procurement Assistant is responsible for compiling, maintaining data and advising on basic materiel management, procurement and contracting activities for an assigned range of goods and services for identified regional client missions.
The type of services includes inputting and maintaining data, such as Purchase Orders in the Department's SAP-based financial management system; providing routine contracting and procurement advice and services including the processing and maintenance of contracting files, scanning and reviewing received documentation and preparing and submitting forms on different systems and to different recipients.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened based on the essential qualifications in relation to education, experience and languages.

Candidates must demonstrate clearly in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of the Language, Education and Experience qualifications. It is not sufficient to simply state responsibilities. They must also demonstrate and explain how they meet the criteria, not simply list the criteria they meet.

Education:
• University or post-secondary degree.

Language:
• Ability to communicate effectively* in English and French (reading, writing, speaking).

*Effective communication is considered to be the equivalent to B2 level per the European language framework.

Experience:
• At least 12 consecutive months of significant experience within the last five (5) years performing each of the following activities:
• Entering accurately and rapidly large volume of data in a computer system such as SAP.
• Using various word processing, data management and email software or systems such as Microsoft Suite.
• Providing client service, advice and guidance to clients.

Knowledge:
• Operational knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) in English and in French.
• Ability to enter high volume data accurately into a computer system.
• Ability to manage priorities.
• Ability to work in a team environment

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their cover letter.

• Experience working in a contracting and procurement role
• Experience working with SAP software
• Experience working in a multi-currency environment
• Experience in a Government or the Public Sector or a large international company
• Knowledge and ability to interpret technical terms for maintenance contracts of specialized systems for chanceries and official residences.

Organizational Needs:
• This position may require very occasional travel abroad. The successful candidate must have and maintain a valid passport.

Operational Requirements:
• Overtime may be required occasionally
• Normal Hours of work: 37.5 hours / week (Monday to Friday).

Condition(s) of Employment:
• To reside and be legally authorized to work and live in Belgium at the time of employment offer is issued; and for the duration of the employment.
• To be able to obtain and maintain an enhanced reliability and security clearance of the Government of Canada including a criminal record and financial check.
