Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Senior Consular Program Officer, provides consular assistance to Canadians; coordinates targeted outreach with key contacts; processes passports applications and citizenship documents for Canadian citizens abroad; performs financial and accounting services in support of consular, passport and citizenship services provided at the mission; and performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
SCREENING CRITERIA:

Language:
- Fluent in English and Tagalog (read, write, and speak)

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training, and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required for the position

Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working at an Embassy or International organization in the last 7 years
- Face-to-face client service-related work experience which requires judgment, empathy, understanding, and attention to detail, including problem solving / troubleshooting with clients

RATED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of MS Office applications

- Effective interpersonal skills, sound judgment, professional integrity, tact, discretion, initiative, adaptability and flexibility, thoroughness and capacity to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients, colleagues, and supervisors

Asset Qualifications:

- Working ability in French (read, write and speak)

Experience:
- Experience with and/or knowledge of local government agencies, including government offices relevant to the provision of consular services to Canadians (i.e., BI, NBI, PNP)
- Experience working in the Consular Section of an Embassy

Mondays to Thursdays: 07h30-16h15
Fridays: 07h30-12h00

There is one term position to be staffed with a specified period of employment through 31 March 2020, with the possibility of a term extension or change in status to indeterminate employment as required by operational needs.

Condition(s) of Employment:
The successful candidate must:

1. Obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance from the Government of Canada. This involves, among other things, criminal record checks, credit checks, and validation of qualifications.

2. Meet medical requirements as defined by the employer and will be asked to undergo a medical evaluation by a physician.

3. Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.

4. Must successfully pass the Passport Canada training course which allows for the delivery of the Passport Program within the probationary time (training will be provided).

Area of selection:
Open to Philippine nationals and expatriates with work permit, (or who are eligible for work permit), who are currently residing in the Philippines and who meet the essential qualifications listed below.
