Summary of position:
The Security Program Assistant is a key member of the High Commission’s dynamic security team, helping to ensure the safety of this diplomatic mission’s people, information, installations and assets. Responsibilities include performing a variety of support functions such as maintaining emergency management software, administering security contracts and budgets, processing documents, and implementing security/emergency protocols. The Security Program Assistant also oversees a team of receptionists who provide front-of-house client services.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Education: A Levels or equivalent

Experience: Candidates must have at least three years recent (defined as within last 5 years) experience in the following 3 areas:
- Working in an office environment in an administrative capacity
- Processing information including financial documentation
- Providing client service

Linguistic Profile: Professional level of written and spoken English

Asset Qualifications:
The High Commission has the right to further screen on asset qualifications and as such, preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications (which will also be assessed through any of the following: written test, oral communication, interview and reference checks). Candidates should also clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV if they meet these qualifications.

• Fluency in French
• Experience supervising staff
• Experience with contracting
• Experience in processing security clearances and/or using emergency management software
• Knowledge of the UK security environment and its implications for Government of Canada personnel or installations in the United Kingdom

Willingness to work overtime as required

Condition(s) of Employment:
Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor. Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record check).
Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process. Successful candidate must have a valid passport and the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK. Documentation will be required.

This position is open to candidates currently resident in the UK, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK without restriction, who meet all of the essential requirements stated and whose applications are received by the closing date. Those candidates holding documentation/visas not renewable in the UK such as the Youth Mobility Visa will not be eligible to apply for this position.
