Summary of position:
Under the direction of the Ambassador, as part of the Official Residence team: acts as the cook and senior servant at the Official Residence to meet representational and other requirements; responsible for identifying food requirements, planning and preparing meals; organizes the preparation and service for official functions; contributes to the management of the inventory of supplies required; responsible for hiring additional staff for larger events and supervising caterers and workers in the kitchen, and possible supervision of emergency and term employees at the Official Residence; supervises other OR staff in keeping the OR clean and organized; controls access to the Official Residence; performs other duties as may be required.

Essential qualifications:
SCREENING CRITERIA:

Language:
- Working proficiency in English

Education:
- Degree or diploma in Culinary Management or related discipline, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, INCLUDING in classic continental, Asian, and other cuisines

Experience:
- Demonstrated track record with at least 2 years' experience working as a cook in a similar position at a diplomatic or international organization or at a private residence, OR a minimum or 2 years' experience working as a cook in a restaurant or hotel environment or catering

RATED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:
- Food preparation and hygiene
- Culinary management
- Varied international menu planning
- Basic computer literacy

- Professional dependability, discretion, judgment, honesty, tact, initiative, flexibility, independence, and effective performance under pressure
- Capacity to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with colleagues, clients, and supervisors

- Preparation of appropriate menus for daily consumption and large functions
- Preparation of appropriate menus involving dietary restrictions
- Ability to identify food requirements for the Official Residence, plan local groceries, make purchases according to menus and budgets, and provide receipts
- Ability to work from new recipes
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure
- Organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively

Asset Qualifications:
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a diplomatic mission or international organisation

Knowledge:
- Philippine certificate of health and food safety

Condition(s) of Employment:
The successful candidate must:

1. Obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance from the Government of Canada. This involves, among other things, criminal record checks, credit checks, and validation of qualifications.

2. Meet medical requirements as defined by the employer and will be asked to undergo a medical evaluation by a physician.

3. Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.

Open to Philippine nationals and expatriates with work permit, (or who are eligible for work permit), who are currently residing in the Philippines and who meet the essential qualifications listed below
