Summary of position:
Under the general direction of the Property maintenance officer the incumbent is responsible to:

- Maintaining the grounds around mission crown-owned property, including the Chancery, Official Residence, by—among other duties—mowing the lawns, pruning bushes and trees, tidying the edges of walkways and giving the grounds an overall manicured look;
- Clearing snow, ice and other debris, using snow removal equipment during the winter to keep all of the walkways and building entrances cleared and safe;
- Collaborating with the maintenance team to make sure the grounds and the building are always properly cared for;
- Performing other gardening, landscaping and additional duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

• Conversational English (oral)
• Fluent Ukrainian (oral and written)

• Demonstrated track record with at least 2 years’ recent* experience working as a gardener or similar position at a diplomatic or international organization (*recent is defined as within the last 5 years)

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Fluency in English
• Knowledge of the French language
• Some formal training in gardening from a recognized institution

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Must be able to work overtime as required (sometimes at short notice);
• Shiftwork and/or staggered hours may also be required;
• The employee will be required to wear a uniform and should be able to do physical tasks such as lift heavy boxes, etc.
• Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with the Locally Engaged Staff (LES) regulation of 20 hours per week, 5 days a week from Monday to Friday.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Must be a legal resident of Ukraine and eligible to work therein
• Able to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance)
• Term position (one year) with possible extension, successful completion of a one (1) year probation period
• The successful candidate might be required to pass a routine medical examination.
