Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the EDC Chief Representative, acts as an experienced assistant and provides information, technical, logistical and administrative support for EDC’s market activities in the Middle East in support of EDC’s foreign strategy; efficiently carries out research and other special projects assigned by the Chief Representative needed for business development purposes; engages in project management with respect to Business Origination, Account Management, Transaction Facilitation, Corporate Development, Relationship Management, Market intelligence Activities; engages in Administrative Support of EDC’s Middle East representation; may also provide information and input in the creation, translation and processing of letters, speeches and documents as required by the EDC Chief Representative. This role also encompasses responsibilities such as individual business development projects, representing EDC to clients while the Chief Representative is travelling, as well as providing guidance and advice to EDC clients and EDC teams.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a government recognized university or equivalent experience in a similar role.

Language:
Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Fluency in Arabic (reading, writing, and speaking).

Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of experience working in a senior administrative role
• Significant experience in working with a client group developing client and stakeholder relationships
• Experience in project management or account management
• Experience as a translator

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Experience working in a financial institution
• Fluency in French (reading, writing, and speaking).

Organizational Needs:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work overtime (evenings and weekends if necessary)

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain a UAE residence visa
• Ability to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance). The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to a Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Management. To conduct the Reliability Check (RC), the candidate will have to submit the following documents on being selected by the mission.
o Police clearance certificate (Character Certificate)
o Letter of recognition from your bank stating your name, years of client service and your address
o Professional and educational certificates and mark sheets (i.e., academic transcripts)
• Maintenance of a valid passport

Area of selection:

• The Consulate General of Canada, Dubai does not reimburse any travel costs to and from interviews/exams nor does it reimburse any relocation costs.

• The results of this competition may also be used to establish an eligibility list to staff similar openings at the Consulate General of Canada, Dubai which may arise in the twelve (12) months following the completion of this competition.
