Summary of position:
Under the direct supervision of the HOM, the Logistics and Event Assistant contributes to the preparation and delivery of hospitality functions and events at the Chancery, at the Ambassador’s Residence and other event venues; provides assistance for travel arrangements; assists with the general administration related to hospitality supplies; assists in maintaining various inventories; and performs other administrative and job-related duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Secondary school diploma with a specialization in catering, restaurant industry, tourism, logistics etc. or secondary school diploma and professional training in a relevant field (e.g. catering, restaurant industry, tourism, event management, protocol) or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Language:
• Fluency in English and Hungarian (written and oral)

Experience:
• At least 3 years of recent experience (gained within the past 5 years) working in a related field, such as protocol, event management, restaurant industry, housekeeping, etc.;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in providing client service and working with service providers, gained within the past 5 years;
• Experience in event planning and management;
• Experience in managing technical staff (cleaners, waiters, etc.).

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);
• Knowledge of basic inventory management practices;
• Knowledge of the basics of budget management.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Knowledge of French (written and oral)
• Proven work experience at a diplomatic mission or international organization
• Proven work experience in state or diplomatic protocol
• Active work contacts in the event management and restaurant industries
• Valid driving license (category B).

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work overtime on short notice (evenings, weekends if necessary);
• Ability to travel (also abroad) and attend offsite events.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory references and the ability to obtain and maintain reliability security clearance (including a criminal record check);
• Proof of right to work in Hungary and copies of educational qualifications may be required at the interview stage;
• Occupational health clearance which must be maintained throughout the time of employment.
