Summary of position:
Under general supervision of the Mission Consular Officer, the successful candidate will carry out the objectives of the Management Program by greeting / screening and assisting visitors to the mission referring / directing them to the appropriate program as required; attending to general enquiries on the main central telephone switchboard serving all programs; providing organizational services related to travel and hotel reservations where required; ensuring that the lobby is kept tidy; providing other admin and consular support services; and other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Successful completion of a university degree from a recognized university or equivalent combination of education (college diploma), training and/or relevant experience

Language:
• Fluent in English (oral and written)

Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year’s recent* experience as a Receptionist (*recent is defined as in the last 3 years)

OR

• Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a customer-facing role with data entry experience as part of a role performed in the last 2 years .

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Basic knowledge of Canada
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with the Word suite of office software

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Experience in working for an Embassy or Government Organization
• Work experience in Canada or in an organization with Canadian clients
• Fluency in French

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Hours - 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week
• The candidate is required to work directly with the public
• Occasional overtime will be required

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Applicants must hold a valid working authorization covering the period of employment. If the employment is of an indeterminate nature, or becomes indeterminate, then the work authorization should be permanent or lead by itself to permanent work authorization. The Canadian Government cannot sponsor a candidate to obtain work authorization documents.
• Obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance). The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to Medical Clearance and Reliability Check (RC) obtained by the Administration and Security sections of the Embassy to obtain work authorization documents.
