Summary of position:
Under the direction of the Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, advises on and assists in the implementation of the Mission’s trade, investment and technology programs as it fits into the overall Germany IBD Program strategy. Current priority sector assignment is the Health Industries /Pharmaceuticals file.

Essential qualifications:
Essential Requirements:

Education:
- Higher education degree (minimum Bachelors) from an accredited college or university

Experience:
- Minimum of three years of recent direct work experience in promoting international business development in the Life Sciences, either in the public or the private sector. Recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years.
- Recent experience in organizing commercial or business events. Recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years.
- Demonstrated experience in ensuring quality client services by resolving market entry issues.

Languages:
- Professional level of German (oral and written)
- Professional level of English (oral and written)
- Intermediate level of French (oral and written)

Rated Requirements:

Knowledge:
- Professional knowledge of client management software
- Extensive knowledge of the German economy notably in at least one important trade sector (e.g. Life Sciences or Pharmaceuticals)
- Knowledge of trade-related policy as it relates to trade promotion, including free trade agreements
- Knowledge of Canadian economy

Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to take initiative and as a self-starter
- Ability to integrate as part of a team (i.e. to share responsibilities and accountabilities)
- Ability to prioritise
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in problem solving

Asset Qualifications:
- Existing business network in Germany (i.e. worked with distributors, agents, buyers and trade associations)
- Experience working in an international context (working in another country, working for a company / organization with a strong international culture)

- Ability to travel and work overtime according to operational needs

Condition(s) of Employment:
- Ability to obtain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance
- Valid work permit for Germany
