Summary of position:
Under the general supervision and guidance of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Liaison Officer (LO), and/or the International Network Manager (INM), the Operational Liaison Assistant (OLA) will perform a wide range of operational, strategic, administrative and clerical activities to assist the CBSA LO program. The OLA will support CBSA efforts to support Canada's national security and public safety priorities and facilitate the free flow of persons and goods within or linked to the LO's area of responsibility (AOR); participate in reporting on crossborder criminal activities and trends involving people and goods; liaise with local partners, immigration and customs contacts on a wide range of CBSA mandate issues; assist the LO, in expanding border management cooperation with officials in countries in the AOR; professionally represent the LO, and as required, the INM and Regional Director (RD), and CBSA in communication and networking with representatives of host countries and other organizations including translation; and, occasionally or during LO absences, perform some basic activities normally carried out by the LO while exercising initiative and discretion.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• A degree from a recognized university or High School Diploma with an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Language:
• Fluent English (oral and written).

Experience:
• Experience working in an office environment performing a wide range of operational and administrative activities.
• Experience in conducting research, collecting and in analyzing information and providing operational reports.
• Experience in using and maintaining database systems.
• Experience in providing financial and budget management support OR experience working in law enforcement/immigration/ aviation security and/or airport operations

Rated Requirements

• Knowledge of general administration office practices/procedures, as well as logistics support.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Higher degree of education
• Having previously worked for a diplomatic mission, law enforcement agency, aviation security agency or international organization or in airport operations.
• Fluent Arabic (oral and written)
• Knowledge of French
• Experience in airport interdiction work (Immigration/Customs)

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a UAE residence visa.
• Must be residing in the UAE when the offer of employment is made.
• Ability to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance)
