Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Counsellor (Commercial-Ontario), the incumbent provide general program assistance for the Ontario Office. This includes coordinating financial management and reporting, providing corporate services, preparing of and disseminating communications and reporting materials, managing the organisation of public commercial-related events, and supporting the overall promotion of Ontario-UK commercial relations. Performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Education: A levels or equivalent

Experience: The candidate must have minimum 2 years recent* experience working in an office environment in an administrative support or program assistant capacity.
*Recent experience is defined as within last 4 years.

Linguistic Profile: Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal)

Asset Qualifications:
The High Commission has the right to further screen on Asset Qualifications and as such, preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates should also clearly demonstrate in their cover letter if they meet these factors.

- Competency in social media and media support
- Ability to work in French (written and/or spoken)
- University degree from a recognized university
- Previous event organisation experience
- Experience with budgeting and financial reporting

Operational Requirements:
Willing and able to work extended hours if required, which includes late evenings.

Condition(s) of Employment:
Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor. Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record check).
Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process. Successful candidate must have a valid passport and the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK. Documentation will be required.

This position is open to candidates currently resident in the UK, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK without restriction, who meet all of the essential requirements stated and whose applications are received by the closing date.
