Term Details:
This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in United Arab Emirates. The Human Resources Section wishes to announce a staffing process for Program Support in the Migration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada section of the Embassy of Canada in Abu Dhabi. This staffing process will serve to build an eligibility list at the LE-04 level to be used for indeterminate, term, or temporary appointments at this level.

Summary of position:
The Embassy of Canada in Abu Dhabi has a requirement for an Immigration Program Support Clerk with responsibilities including:
• Provides information and assistance to internal and external clients in person or electronically to facilitate compliance with requirements, or their understanding of immigration application processes.
• Enters and validates information in departmental on-line systems; reviews applications and documents; identifies shortcomings including incomplete applications, missing, or irregular information.
• Processes fee payments and prepares documents for refunding of fees.
• Maintains filing system, searches internal systems and accesses departmental websites to search or track information.
• Utilizes office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, specialized printers, biometric capturing equipment, and telephones.
• Researches information systems to support information gathering for the processing of the file/application and to support program integrity.
• Translates and interprets written and verbal information as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
Successful completion of high school/secondary education

Language:
Proficient in English (spoken, written, comprehension)*
*proof of proficiency may be required for candidates reaching the latter stages of the recruitment process.
*please note English proficiency will also be assessed by a variety of means including written assessment and interview.

Experience:
• Minimum 1 year of recent* experience working in an office environment in a clerical or administrative support capacity
*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge/Ability/Competencies:
• Knowledge of Pakistan society, culture and economy
• Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel; familiarity with the use of databases and the internet;
• Able to work under pressure and within deadlines;
• Able to set priorities and multi-task (may need to take instruction from more than one supervisor);
• Attention to detail – accuracy in typing and data entry.
• Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures, to establish a client and contacts network and to work as part of a team;
• Integrity, ethics and values;
• Team player with a positive attitude, able to work within a hierarchy;

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Ability to speak, read and write in French;
• Ability to speak other languages commonly spoken in the UAE, such as Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, other South Asian languages, Tagalog, etc.;
• Experience with international organizations, embassies and/or clients;
• Experience working with immigration/visa files.

Operational Requirements:
• Work in a pressured environment
• Some overtime required (on week days and/or during weekends if job demands)
• Basic hours of work: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day)

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Able to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance
• Successful completion of a one year probation period
• Possession of a valid UAE ID Card
• Possession of a valid work permit or no impediment to obtaining a UAE employment visa
