Summary of position:
Reporting to the Head of the Public Affairs Section, the Program Assistant will be responsible for the financial and office management of the Public Affairs’ Cultural Section related to and resulting from the Frankfurt Bookfair (FBM) 2020 Arts and Culture Program.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened on the Essential Requirements below and must demonstrate in their cover letter/c.v. how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements and demonstrate this clearly within their application will then proceed to the next stage of the process.

The Essential Requirements are:
- High-school leaving certificate (Abitur) plus relevant training or higher education
- Minimum of two year’s work experience in an office environment out of the past 6 years
- Professional level of one of Canada’s official languages (English/French, written and spoken) with knowledge of the other official language (written and spoken)
- Professional level of German (written and spoken)

Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: cover letter, written test, oral communication, interview and reference checks.

The Rated Requirements are:
- Strong computer skills (MS Office)
- Work experience related to events planning and coordination
- Budgeting skills
- Customer service skills
- Flexibility
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to set priorities

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their cover letter.

The Asset qualifications are:
- Work experience in an international environment
- Work experience in or with cultural institutions

- Preparedness to work extra hours on a regular basis, including some evenings and weekends

Condition(s) of Employment:
- Ability to obtain an enhanced reliability clearance
- Residence in Germany
- Valid work permit for Germany at application stage
