Summary of position:
Reporting to the Head of Program at the Ontario Trade and Investment Office (TIO), the position is required to help develop and implement strategies to increase economic activity in Ontario through investment attraction, trade opportunities, and research and innovation partnerships within the TIO area of operation and the sector responsibility.

The position is also responsible to oversee the general administration of the Ontario TIO for office organization, general accounting duties related to co-location, such as financial record­ keeping and reporting, budget monitoring, scheduling of external meetings and travel for the Head of Program, as well as vendor and client liaison.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened on the Essential Requirements below and must demonstrate in their cover letter/c.v. how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements and demonstrate this clearly within their application will then proceed to the next stage of the process.

The Essential Requirements are:
- Higher education degree (minimum Bachelors) from an accredited University
- Minimum of two years of work experience out of the past five years in promoting international business development, either in the public or the private sector
- Experience in organizing commercial events (such as networking events, business or investment promotion, or matchmaking events)
- Experience in project management
- Experience working with client management software, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Professional level of German (written and spoken)
- Professional level of English (written and spoken)

Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: cover letter, written test, oral communication, interview and reference checks.

The Rated Requirements are:
- Extensive knowledge of the German economy notably in at least two sectors of importance for Ontario (such as life sciences, ICT, agri-food or advanced manufacturing).
- Knowledge of Ontario and the Ontario economy, including the key sectors of interest for Ontario companies looking to export to Germany (such as life sciences, ICT, agri-food or advanced manufacturing).
- Knowledge of organising incoming and outgoing delegations (including high level political delegations and business focussed groups)
- Knowledge of managing budgets and basic accounting procedures
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise
- Networking skills
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Client service orientation
- Organisational skills

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their cover letter.

The Asset qualifications are:
- Existing business network in Germany
- Work experience in a representational function
- Working level knowledge of French

- Ability to travel and work overtime according to operational needs
