Summary of position:
Under general supervision of an officer and working as part of a team, provides multi-tasked support services to the Immigration section. Communicates and assists clients to understand the immigration application process/requirements and enable their compliance. Monitors, tracks and analyzes applications and identifies shortcomings at various stages, records, updates and verifies information in departmental information systems. Manages correspondence in the office and decides on appropriate action, drafting routine correspondence to client and other stakeholder enquiries and/or referring the issue to an officer, as appropriate. Arranges and participates in meetings, both internal and external, and/or provides logistical support for events. Accesses departmental information systems to support information gathering for the processing of applications. Utilizes automated tools such as personal computers, photocopiers, scanners, fax machines and telephones to facilitate application processing.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Education: A-Level’s or equivalent

Experience: The candidate must have minimum 2 years recent* experience working in an office environment in an administrative support or program assistant capacity.
*Recent experience is defined as within last 4 years.

Language requirement: Fluency in English

Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: written test, oral communication, interview and reference checks.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their cover letter

- Ability to read, write and understand and/or communicate in French
- A university, college degree or post-secondary equivalency
- Experience in working for the Government of Canada in an Administrative position.

Condition(s) of Employment:
Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor. Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record check).
Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process. Successful candidate must have a valid passport and the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK. Documentation will be required.

This position is open to candidates currently resident in the UK, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK without restriction, who meet all of the essential requirements stated and whose applications are received by the closing date.
Candidates holding documentation/visas not renewable in the UK such as the Youth Mobility Visa will not be eligible for a permanent position. In addition, applicants holding these visas will only be eligible for a fixed term or emergency contract if the expiry date of the visa is later than the termination date of employment (as minimum to be past December 2019).
