Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Officer, incumbent handles Locally-Engaged Staff monthly payroll and payroll system, compensation and benefits issues, leave records, medical insurance and MPF/ORSO plan, training plans and programs, staffing actions, schooling matters of Canada Based Staff, and other Human Resources and administrative duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university/college in an area related to the job duties or an acceptable combination of education and work experience;
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
• Proficiency in Cantonese language, both written and spoken;


• Minimum two (2) years of recent* work experience in general human resources duties, including administration of employees’ payroll;
• Experience in administering MPF and/or Pension scheme;
• Experience in preparing budgets;
• Experience in using Microsoft EXCEL in an office environment;

*Recent experience is defined as within the past five (5) years.

Rated requirements:

• Well-versed in Hong Kong Employment Ordinance, MPF regulations and other related legislations;

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Outlook);

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
• Ability to communicate in French or Mandarin;
• Experience in studying or working in Canada;
• Experience in using a human resources information management system;
• Experience in supervising subordinates;
• Knowledge of Canadian society and government structure;
• Knowledge in Canadian Human Resources policies and regulations.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Must be able to work overtime on short notice on occasion; and
• Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends);
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Successful candidates must possess a valid work authorization or otherwise be permitted to work legally in Hong Kong by the closing date and for the duration of the employment period;
• Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Reliability Status (RS).

The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to obtaining Reliability Status (RS). To conduct the RS process, the candidate must submit the following documents on being selected by the Mission:
• Completed Reliability Status Check forms (provided by the Consulate General)
• Consent form for Reliability Status Check – for local criminal record check and Canada’s vetting/evaluation (provided by the Consulate General)
• Proof of address from your bank or other recognized companies stating your name and your address
• Professional and education mark sheets or certificates
• Letters of reference
• Reference checks – from three referees
• HKID card or valid work permit
• Passport photo x 1
• Credit check results
• Other documents as required

Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory references.
Proof of right to work and copies of educational and any specified professional qualifications will be required.

Area of selection:
External applicants currently residing in Hong Kong, all current Consulate General employees occupying an indeterminate or term position, emergency employees, and spouses and dependents of Canada Based Staff who meet all the essential qualifications stated below and whose applications are received by the closing date
