Summary of position:
• Manage and prepare content for the Embassy’s social media channels and website under the supervision of the Second Secretary;
• Plan and execute public campaigns and events to promote Canadian foreign policy priorities;
• Manage relations with media representatives and support the preparation of traditional media content (e.g. press releases, interviews);
• Participate in the planning and execution of high-level visits, Canadian experts, and others;
• Monitor the Arabic language media (press, social media and television, Egyptian and regional) and summarize and share relevant information;
• Conduct research to support the drafting of analyses and reports.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:

• Degree from a recognized university relevant to translation, journalism, humanities, social sciences or commerce.

Language:

• Proficiency in English and Arabic (oral and written).

Experience:

• Minimum two years recent* professional experience in journalism, media and/or public relations with duties that include writing, translation and event planning;
• Minimum two years recent* experience working in an embassy or international organization.
*Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment
may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or
psychometric assessment.

• General knowledge of Canada and Canadian government foreign policy interests in Egypt;
• Knowledge of and interest in Egyptian politics, culture, media and civil society;
• Managing social media;
• Project management including budgets.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Proficiency in the French language (oral and written).

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work occasional overtime (evenings and weekends if necessary).

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Able to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance);
• Must have a valid work authorization for Egypt;
• Must be resident in Cairo in order to receive an offer of employment.
