Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Political Program Manager, the FPDS Program Assistant is the primary provider of administrative support to the Political (FPDS) program. The Assistant supports the section’s public affairs objectives through the organization of public events and their leveraging through social media; supports outreach priorities; reviews correspondence; assists in the administration of the program’s budget and liaises with the local government. In addition, this position assists in furthering the section’s political priorities, including by conducting research and providing political, economic and societal advice and expertise and by attending external meetings and briefings

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

• University degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) from a recognized University;

• Fluent English (verbal and written);
• Fluent Hebrew (verbal and written);
• Good command of French (written and spoken);

• Two years of experience in a combination of two or more of the following functions:
o Administrative support;
o Event coordination;
o Communications through social media;
o Financial administration;
o Conducting research;
o Liaising with local governmental institutions.

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Experience working in government, an embassy, or a Civil Society Organization;
• Experience in financial and budget administration;
• Knowledge of Arabic (verbal, reading comprehension)

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
• Ability to work overtime (evenings and weekends)

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Applicants must be legally eligible to reside and work in Israel.
• The Canadian Government cannot sponsor a candidate to obtain work authorization documents (work permits / work visas).
• Successful candidates will be subject to Reliability Security Check. The security clearance must be maintained throughout employment.
