Summary of position:
The Receptionist operates the central telephone switchboard serving all programs of the mission, provides general information to visitors; controls physical access to the Chancery’s 8th floor, provides administrative support to Consular and Common Services; performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
SCREENING CRITERIA

Language: Fluency in English and Filipino (read, write, speak)

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university

Experience:
- Minimum of six months’ recent* experience in a client service position catering to the general public
Experience with standard office procedures
Experience with computer applications, including Microsoft Office
*”Recent” is defined as within the last two (2) years

Condition(s) of Employment:
The successful candidate must:

1. Obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance from the Government of Canada. This involves, among other things, criminal record checks, credit checks and validation of qualifications.

2. If non-citizen of the Philippines, have the possession of or ability to procure a valid working permit in the Philippines for an indeterminate period.

3. Meet the employer’s medical requirements by undergoing a medical evaluation by a physician.

4. Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.

5. Be able to travel both locally and abroad.

6. Be able to work in an open-office environment.

Area of selection:
Open to Philippine nationals and expatriates with or eligible for a work permit, who meet the Essential Qualifications and are currently residing in the Philippines

1. Travel costs to and from the exam and interview sites as well as relocation costs will not be reimbursed.

2. Candidates who fail to confirm their attendance at our written exam and/or interview will be considered withdrawn from the process.

3. Applicants are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language of their choice. Applicants are asked to indicate their preferred official language (English or French) in their application.

4. Candidates are advised that the exam and interview will only be re-scheduled under these exceptional circumstances:
a. Medical reason with certificate
b. Pre-arranged travel with proof
c. Pre-scheduled training with proof
d. Death in the family
e. Other exceptional reason deemed acceptable by the Selection Board
