Summary of position:
Under the direction of the Property and Materiel Manager, coordinates, organizes and implements the purchasing of all materiel for the mission, and its receipt, storage, distribution and disposal; plans, organizes and controls the maintenance, repair and replacement of materiel resources; collects data for the development of the mission's materiel budget; coordinates and organizes the purchase and distribution of all office supplies; controls and organizes the maintenance and distribution of the mission Hospitality equipment and Pack-up Kits; assists to administer services related to the maintenance of Mission’s staff quarters, chancery and official residence, supervise contractors, and performs other related duties.

Essential qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor degree from a university, OR an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience

• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

• Recent experience (minimum 1 year in the past 3 years) in every of the following areas:
o Experience in performing quality inspection
o Experience in dealing with customer/client service
o Experience in working in a team environment
o Experience in general administrative duties including budgeting
o Experience in supervision

• General knowledge of property management practices
• Knowledge of general office procedure and practices
• Knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Ability to plan and organize work
• Ability to perform both office work and on-site supervision
• Ability to perform translation and interpretation from Chinese to English and vice versa.

Asset Qualifications:
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

• Experience working in an administrative support or management role in the real estate, building management, construction or general contracting fields.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required;
• Able to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance

Area of selection:
This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Shanghai at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Shanghai at own expense.
