Summary of position:
Under the direction of the [CBS Officer, MCO, Property Manager or Senior Maintenance Technician], the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the completion of general repairs in one or more of the following areas: - electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting and specific functional maintenance (such as refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, boiler operations, audio-visual) duties and schedules for all mission and/or crown owned or leased assets and equipment.
The incumbent must also assist with preparing preventive maintenance programs as required, and assist other Maintenance Team members in the completion of various projects outside their area of expertise.
The incumbent is also required to inspect work performed by contractors to ensure compliance with manufacturer’s specifications, and consult their supervisor when required.

Essential qualifications:
Essential Qualifications
Candidates will initially be screened on the essential qualifications below and must demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet these criteria. Only those candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Education
• Completion of Secondary School
AND
• Technical and / or Mechanical Engineering diploma (3-year diploma) from a recognized institution (e.g. National Polytechnic Diploma in Plumbing, Plant Engineering, Welding and Fabrication)

Language
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Arabic (oral)

Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a facilities environment including residential and commercial section.
• Valid Saudi Driver’s License.

Rated Requirements
Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: written test, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, references, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Candidates who are screened in will be required to complete a written test. Only the candidates retained after the test will be contacted for an interview. The interview will consist of a series of questions and/or exercises in order to evaluate the aptitudes and qualifications of each candidate.

Knowledge
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Advanced knowledge* of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or other related field
• Advanced knowledge* of Health and Safety best practices

* “Advanced knowledge” can mean the ability to read and interpret plumbing and carpentry blueprints; cutting , assembling and installing pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure (e.g.: plumbing); installing and maintaining water supply systems; assembling, installation and repair of office furniture.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Welding
• Locksmithing
• Masonry
• Large Appliance Repair
• Experience installing household appliances, electronics, furniture and office equipment.
• Fluency in Arabic (both oral and written)
• Fluency in French (both oral and written)
• 10+ years of experience working in facilities residential and commercial section.
• Working for a Diplomatic Mission
• Vocational certificate or diploma in building Electro Mechanical services or relevant experience.
• Technical diploma certification attested by Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Operational Requirements:
• Must be willing and able to respond to emergencies after hours and on weekends.
• Must be willing and able to lift and carry tools, building materials, equipment and furniture when required, up to 25 kgs, on a regular basis, without assistance
• Hours of work: 45 hours per week (Sun to Thu)
• Ability to work overtime (evenings and weekends)
• Annual leave during summer period may be restricted due to operational needs.
• Ability to work in a diverse international and cultural environment.
• Willingness to undergo training.
• Understanding of values and ethics code of conduct.
• Ability to maintain a legal driver’s license for Saudi Arabia
• Ability to travel

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Must be a legal resident of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and eligible to work therein;
• Valid passport and Saudi residency permit (Iqama)
• Iqama transfer required. Kindly note that the embassy sponsors all eligible indeterminate employees. Only professional Iqama can be transferred to the embassy. The embassy cannot transfer an applicant currently on a dependent iqama i.e. spouse or child.
• Obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance)
• Successful completion of a one (1) year probation period
• Successful candidates must pass a routine medical examination (funded by the Embassy)
