Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Common Services Officer (CSO), provides transportation, delivery and errand services to all mission programs, and arranges for car maintenance, and provides basic administrative, maintenance and support services to the mission following established mission and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) policies, completes other tasks if needed.
Provides confidential driving services by ensuring the highest level of safety and security while driving and by following all required local and safe driving regulations and practices; Assists Mission courier and logistics services; Takes care of vehicle maintenance; Provides administrative tasks related to vehicles.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will be selected initially on the basis of essential qualifications related to education, language profile and experience. They must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and resume how they meet each of the essential qualifications.

Education:
• Completed secondary school.

Language:
• Fluency in English (oral and written)
• Fluency in Turkish (oral and written)

Experience:
• Have at least three recent* years of experience as a professional driver (e.g. taxi, tourism company, limousine, bus) in the city of Istanbul and its surroundings.
• At least 1 year recent* experience in general office support/running errands and/or of delivering courier and logistics services. *Recent is defined as within the past 5 years.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Extensive knowledge of Istanbul and its surroundings;
• Knowledge of routes in other major cities of Turkey
• Knowledge of Turkish and European rules of conduct;
• Knowledge of local driving regulations and road safety in Turkey
• Knowledge of computer and office equipment operation.
• Knowledge of basic office support work
• Able to use the internet and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Abilities/Competencies:
• Able to navigate and read a map, and familiar with the functioning of GPS devices/applications;
• Customer service orientation;
• Able to work under pressure according to deadlines;
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work;
• Teamwork and cooperation;

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Similar/Previous experience working for an Embassy/Consulate or an international organization
• Experience driving armoured vehicles
• Experience dealing with VIPs/ dignitaries
• Knowledge of the French language (spoken)
• Able to provide basic IT assistance
• Experience performing light property maintenance tasks, and knowledge how to use a drill and other tools


Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work irregular hours and/or overtime essential
• May be required to travel and/or work additional hours with or without notice that may occur after regular hours, at night, on weekends and during statutory holidays.
• Ability to do occasional travel (Outside of Istanbul, around Turkey)
• Able to do physical tasks (e.g. heavy lifting)
• Able to provide office/hospitality services to support mission programs
• The employee will be required to undergo special training to drive an armoured vehicle to ensure the safety of authorised mission personnel in high-risk locations.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Right to work and live legally in Turkey
• Current clean driver’s license record
• Able to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance
• Applicants must be in possession of a valid Turkish driver's license;
• Before a job offer can be made, applicants must provide an address in Turkey to prove their residence in that country. This address in Turkey will be indicated on the job offer letter of the selected candidate.
• Applicants must meet the requirements of a medical examination (including an eyesight examination) which will be a condition prior to appointment.

• ‎Gross salaries are paid to the employees who are in turn responsible to pay their income taxes to the Turkish Government at the end of the fiscal year.
• The Embassy of Canada in Ankara and the Consulate General in Istanbul do not reimburse any travel costs to and from interviews/exams nor does it reimburse any relocation costs.
• The results of this recruitment process may also be used to establish an eligibility list of qualified candidates for similar openings at the Consulate General of Canada in Istanbul that could arise in the 12 months following the completion of this recruitment process.
