Summary of position:
Under the general direction of the Senior Trade Commissioner, this position is responsible for supporting the Mission’s Trade Commissioners with the implementation of their international business development and investment programs and activities in the Consulate General’s territory

Essential qualifications:
A degree from a recognized, accredited university or college in the fields of business, communications, international studies or a combination of education, training

A minimum 2 years' experience in an administrative role supporting an executive(s) or providing administrative support to a high performing team in the private or the public sector;
Experience organizing events designed to promote networking;
Experience with electronic filing systems, CRMs, or information databases and Microsoft Office suite;
Ability to communicate with high level officials, clients and contacts in an effective and respectful manner;
Experience in responding to client enquiries, conducting research, drafting reports;
Experience contributing to a team of business professionals in achieving organizational objectives/goals.

Rated requirements:
Candidates who meet the Education and Experience requirements will be assessed on the following qualifications.

Knowledge of general business research skills
Knowledge of business development practices
Knowledge of the services provided by the Trade Commissioner Service and the role that the international business development team plays in providing these services

Communicate effectively in Spanish (Mandatory) and in English or French
Ability to manage multiple projects, events, priorities and deadlines
Ability to function as part of and contribute to a team

Asset Qualifications:
Previous experience in an international organization
Ability to read, write and speak a 3rd language (French/English)

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
Availability for occasional overtime and travel.

Condition(s) of Employment:
Work 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday from 8:30 to 17:00 at the Canadian Embassy in Santo Domingo. Please note the Canadian Government does not reimburse any travel costs to/from interview nor reimburse any relocation costs prior appointment.
A valid “Reliability Status” security check is required prior appointment. The required level of security clearance must be maintained throughout the employment period.
Able to work legally in Dominican Republic at the time of application. The Canadian Government does not sponsor employment passes.
