Starting Annual Gross Salary: LE-05: RMB 112,777 / LE-04: RMB 99,598 (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; 13th month bonus and employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary; salary is non-negotiable)

Summary of position:
Passport & Citizenship Assistant, LE-05:

Under the general direction of the Consular Program Manager, the Passport & Citizenship Assistant receives and processes passport applications and other travel documents pursuant to the Passport Regulations and the Canadian Citizenship Act; receives and processes applications for Citizenship pursuant to the Canadian Citizenship Act; provides notarial services; provides administrative and financial services in support of the Consular Program and performs other duties as required.

Consular Assistant, LE-04:

Reports to the Consular Program Manager, the duties entail providing administrative support to the mission’s consular, passport and citizenship service delivery; providing back-up support to this service delivery; and other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university

• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
• Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
• Basic French language abilities

Passport & Citizenship Assistant, LE-05:
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in dealing with the public and customer/client service

Consular Assistant, LE-04:
• Minimum one (1) year’s experience in dealing with the public and customer/client service

Both LE-05 and LE-04 positions:
• Minimum one (1) year experience performing general administrative duties
• Extensive experience in data entry

• General knowledge of Canada;
• Knowledge of regulations pertaining to foreign citizens in China.

• Ability to write effective business correspondence in English using Microsoft Office
• Ability to manage competing priorities effectively with a high level of details
• Ability to follow written instructions

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance
• Requirement to undergo and succeed the Passport Certification within 6 months of initial appointment

Area of selection:
This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at their own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at their own expense.
