Housekeeping Attendant (Housekeeper)

Salary:
Starting salary 36,128 DZD up to 60,317 DZD (after 13 years of service) per month + allowances (13th month bonus, meals + transportation) + other benefits.

Full time employment (37.5 hours per week). Contract of indefinite duration with one year of probation. This position is an LES position (Locally Engaged Staff), subject to the terms and conditions of employment of LES in effect in Algeria.

Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Chef de Mission and the Butler, the incumbent performs a set of duties to ensure the comfort, order and cleanliness of the Official Residence as well as of the Annex to the Canadian Embassy:.
• Clean reception areas (corridors, corridors, entrances, halls, stairwells, etc.) and rooms or adjoining rooms (bedrooms, bathroom, sanitary facilities, kitchens, fireplaces, laundry rooms, terraces, etc.);
• Maintain an inventory of cleaning products and equipment needed for maintenance;
• Check and report irregularities in the condition of furniture and equipment.
• Report to the Butler any malfunctions or lack noted at the level of the Official Residence.
• Contribute to maintaining the inventory of official dishwashing services in good condition;
• Contribute to cleaning and logistics tasks before and after official activities (cleaning and storage of dishes and tablecloths, cleaning of premises, etc.);
• Perform other housekeeping duties;
• Maintain the order and cleanliness of the Chalets during visits.
• Participate in the catering / reception service, if necessary.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:

• Secondary/High School level.

Language:

• Good knowledge* of Arabic (speaking, writing and reading);
• Good knowledge* of French (speaking, writing and reading).
* Good knowledge is defined as being able to meet current social demands, to manage most basic social situations with confidence, including introductions and occasional conversations about current affairs, work, family, and to manage limited work requirements, but assistance is required in the management of any complications or difficulties.

Experience:

• Minimum of one year of recent work experience * as a housekeeping attendant.
* Recent is defined as being in the last 5 years.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of protocol and etiquette (being courteous, discreet and comfortable with high-level personalities VIP, minister, CEO etc.);
• Knowledge of household hygiene and safety rules;
• Knowledge of cleaning products, their use and their dangerousness;
• Knowledge of cleaning and disinfection methods;
• Knowledge of laundry and lingerie;
• Knowledge of setting up tables.

Competencies:

• Autonomy;
• Discretion and integrity;
• Teamwork and sense of collaboration;
• Observation and concern for quality and details.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Training certificate/diploma in the hospitality and / or housekeeping fields.
• Knowledge of English (read, spoken and written).
• Experience in a similar position in a diplomatic mission or an international organization or in a VIP residence.

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work overtime occasionally and sometimes on short notice, which may include weekends;
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 25 kilograms using proper safety procedures

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Candidates must obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance (security clearance);
• Candidates must be able to reside and work legally in Algeria during the entire period of employment, and provide proof of this status before beginning employment;
• Candidates will be asked to provide a letter of reference from their most recent employer before formally taking up duties.
