Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Property Manager or the main Maintenance Technician, the Plumbing Technician is responsible for carrying out specific repairs mainly in the plumbing field but may also have to carry out general repairs in one or more of the following other areas: electricity, carpentry, masonry, painting and functional maintenance tasks (such as refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and boiler operation), for all equipment and goods belong to the mission, and / or the State or which are rented.

Essential qualifications:
Essential Qualifications

Candidates will initially be selected based on the essential qualifications relating to education, experience and the required linguistic profile. Candidates will have to clearly demonstrate, in their covering letter (750 words maximum), the manner in which they meet these criteria by explaining clearly and concretely how they meet each criterion of the essential qualifications. Please note that it is not sufficient simply to assert that one meets the requirements or to list current responsibilities.

Education
• Level of study required Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of studies, training and professional experience related to the position; and
• Have completed a technical / professional diploma in plumbing from a school recognized by the MENFP (Ministry of National Education and Professional Training)

Language
French (fluent) oral and written. The incumbent must be fluent in French to understand instructions and communicate information to colleagues.

Experience
Have recent professional experience of at least 3 years in the last 5 years in a technician position similar to that posted with a diplomatic mission, an international organization or a reputable private company.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge :
• Basic computer skills (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Office Suite incl. Outlook);
• In-depth knowledge of plumbing;
• Basic knowledge in one of the following functional areas: such as maintenance of residential ventilation and / or air conditioning systems, electricity, masonry, carpentry, painting, heating, refrigeration or mechanics;
• General knowledge of mathematics;
• General knowledge of the metropolitan area and the main road axes of Haiti; and
• General knowledge in manually completing simple reports such as daily service reports and roadmaps.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Possess a technical/professional diploma in one of the following fields: electricity, air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanics, masonry, carpentry, or other related disciplines/or equivalent.
• Experience in maintaining residential ventilation systems and/or air conditioning and/or electricity
• Knowledge of English (oral).

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Overtime with little notice, including weekends;
• Must be available to answer emergency calls after hours and weekends.


Condition(s) of Employment:
• Must be able to legally live and work in Haiti;
• Capable of obtaining and maintaining a Government of Canada security clearance (reliability);
• Meet the requirements of the medical examination (compulsory);
• Capable of manually lifting a 50 pound load to move it; and
• Hold a valid driver's license and be able to drive manual vehicles
