Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Materiel Manager:
• Provides transportation for authorized passengers by driving them to or picking them up at their destinations, waiting if required;
• Delivers and collects a variety of items and materiel by delivering and picking at appropriate places such items as invitations, messages, travel tickets, mail, periodicals, parcels, diplomatic notes, customs documents and other items;
• Assists the clearance and collection of parcels at customs or the post office;
• Delivers registered mail, packages and the postage meter to the local post office;
• Ensures that the official vehicle is clean and tidy at all times;
• Services the official vehicle with gasoline, lubricants, coolant, battery, and other consumable parts as required;
• Provides escort services when necessary;
• Performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Applicants must clearly demonstrate on their application that they meet all of the essential qualifications.

Language:
• Fluency in Korean and English, both written and oral.

Education:
• A minimum of a high school diploma.

Experience:
• A minimum of 2 years of recent (within last 5 years) experience as a Corporate Driver/Chauffeur.

Certifications:
• A valid Korean driver’s license (Type 1)
• A clean driver’s abstract without major traffic offenses and/or record of license suspension.

Candidates will be evaluated, and must demonstrate through the selection process, that they meet the following qualifications:

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of local routes of Seoul;
• Knowledge of local and safe driving regulations and practice;
• Knowledge of good vehicle maintenance procedures.

• Ability to fluently speak and write in English;
• Ability to fluently speak and write in Korean;
• Ability to follow instructions and apply rules;
• Ability to use GPS or internet mapping systems
• Ability to handle pressure.

Asset Qualifications:
Language:
• Fluency in French, both written and oral.

Experience:
• Experience working at the Embassy of Canada in Seoul;
• Experience working in a Foreign Embassy/Consulate and/or government office;
• Experience as an official driver for a multinational organization.

Staffing Process:

• An English and/or Korean language test may be required to assess fluency.

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work overtime;
• Physically capable of lifting heavy items;
• Annual leave may be restricted due to operational needs;
• Requirement to undergo training and obtain (and maintain) security clearances;
• As a member of the Canadian diplomatic presence abroad, required to adhere to Canada's Code on Values & Ethics;
• Hours of Work: 40.0 hours per week, 5 days a week;

Condition(s) of Employment:
• The successful candidates must be in excellent health with excellent vision. Prior to being hired to this position, the successful candidate will be required to pass a complete medical examination, including an eye test at a designated medical facility before being offered a position in Embassy.
• The hiring or appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to obtaining Reliability Status (RS) through the Management and Security section of the Embassy. Please note that RS must be maintained throughout your employment at the Embassy, as failure to do so may result in dismissal.
• Ability to maintain a valid working authorization in Korea for the duration of the employment term is a condition of employment at the Embassy of Canada. If applicable, proof of Visa is required.
