Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Office of the Ambassador, the responsibilities for this position may include but not limited to:

• Providing transportation, delivery and errand services to all mission programs;
• Providing basic administrative, maintenance and support services to the mission following established mission and departmental policies such as maintaining Embassy vehicle log and ensuring regular Embassy vehicle maintenance;
• Providing courier services for Embassy mail including coordinating delivery and pick-up of diplomatic mail;
• Acting as maintenance support for minor maintenance work at the Embassy and staff quarters.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter or CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

• High School diploma from a recognized institution OR Federal Certificate of Competence (FCC) / Eidgenössische Fähigkeitszeugnis (EFZ).

• Fluency in German (oral and written)
• Fluency (oral and written) in one of the Official Languages of Canada (English or French).

• A minimum of two (2) years of recent professional driving experience.
*Recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years.

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

• Knowledge of Swiss and European driving rules and regulations;
• Knowledge of the Canton of Bern and surroundings;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) as well as Internet research skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities effectively with a high level of details in a high-paced work environment;
• Adaptability and Flexibility;
• Discretion and Professional Integrity;
• Effective interpersonal relationships and Respect;

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Fluency in the other Official Language of Canada (English or French).

• Previous driving experience for a diplomatic mission, international/ governmental organization or private sector;
• Previous minor maintenance experience working in a diplomatic mission, international/governmental organization or private sector;
• Experience in vehicle maintenance;
• Training related to provision of minor maintenance related to areas such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc.

Organizational Needs:
• Availability and willingness to work overtime when required.
• Availability and willingness to travel occasionally and on short notice.
• Normal work week is 40 hours per week.
• Available to start as of October 1st, 2020.

Operational Requirements:

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Able to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability Status Clearance. Please note that the Reliability Status Clearance must be maintained throughout your employment at the Embassy as failure to do so may result in dismissal.
• Must possess a valid permanent Swiss driver’s license.
• For the past 5 years held a satisfactory safe driving record (Driver’s abstract).

Area of selection:
