Summary of position:
The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service is a world-wide network of professionals in international business development (IBD), with preferred access to business knowledge and contacts, who are committed to advancing Canadian interests abroad. This position contributes to the delivery of the IBD program at the mission in accordance with the TCS Client Service Policies and Government of Canada policies for international trade, investment, and science and technology, with the objective of helping Canadian clients make better business decisions abroad. The position will:
- Assist the Commercial section in servicing requests from Canadian Exporters interested in Germany
- Assist in researching and identifying commercial opportunities for Canadian companies in Germany
- Provide administrative support in helping to maintain correspondence and filing, and support to the rest of the Consulate programs as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:

• Secretarial or commercial qualification (e.g. vocational training certificate, Bachelor’s degree or higher)

Language:

• Professional level of German at the C2 level (oral and written)*
• Professional level of English at the C1 level (oral and written)*

*according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Experience:

Minimum of two years of recent relevant work experience** in at least two of the following:
• Working within an office environment in an administrative support or program assistant capacity using online systems and tools (including MS Office applications and client relationship management software). This must include conducting searches of websites and online databases.
• Working in a field related to promoting international business development in either the public or the private sector.
• Providing logistical support for events (for example, trade fair participation) and/or visit programme coordination.
• Dealing directly with clients.
** recent experience is defined as within the last 5 years

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
