Summary of position:
Reporting to MUNIC’s Vice Consul, the officer will have responsibility over several sectors (including digital industries and information and communications technologies), and will contribute to the broader delivery of the IBD (International Business Development) program at the mission and as part of the Germany-wide team.

This position requires the ability to work constructively and positively with three other officers who will share various sub-sectors within the information and communication technologies sector – meaning there will be shared responsibilities and accountabilities.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language, and experience. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letters and C.V. how they meet each of the essential qualifications.

Education:

• Higher education degree (minimum Bachelors) in a business related field.

Language:

• Professional fluency in English and German, both written and spoken.

• Intermediate knowledge of French, written and spoken.

Experience:

• Minimum of two years of work experience out of the past five years in promoting international business development, in either the public or private sector.

• Experience in organizing commercial or business events.

• Experience working with standard office software, such as Microsoft Office.

• Experience in using client management software.

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities, and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations, and/or psychometric assessment.

• Extensive knowledge of the German economy, notably in at least one important trade sector (e.g. Automotive or Information Communication/Digital Technologies).

• Knowledge of trade-related policy as it relates to trade promotion, including free trade agreements.

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to travel and work overtime according to operational needs.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• The employee must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the Government of Canada.
