Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Common Services Officer, the driver whose activities will be handled on a daily basis by the Receptionist / dispatcher provides transport, delivery services and runs errands for all mission programs; ensures the proper maintenance of vehicles; provides basic administration, maintenance and support services to the mission in accordance with mission and departmental policies.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.
Education:

• Secondary school diploma (Baccalaureate)
• Valid professional Romanian driving license (category B or C)

Language:

• Fluency in Romanian (written and oral)
• Ability to speak and read in English at an working level

Experience:
• Active driving experience in the past 5 years

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.
Knowledge:

• Expert knowledge and understanding of traffic rules and regulations
• Good knowledge of Bucharest streets and surrounding areas
• Basic user-level knowledge of MS Outlook functions (email, calendar)
Abilities/Competencies:

• Ability to plan routes and use of a GPS or other internet-based or smartphone applications
• Ability to orientate and read a road map;
• Physical suitability (must be able to lift and move heavy items up to 35 kg)
• Client service orientation
• Teamwork and cooperation
• Sound judgement and good problem solving skills
• Honesty and integrity
• Discretion


Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates should clearly demonstrate in their cover letter if they meet these qualifications.
• Knowledge of both official languages of Canada (English and French)
• Proven work experience at a diplomatic mission or international organization
• Mechanical knowledge background
• Completion of driving training(s)

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work overtime on very short notice (evenings, weekends and holidays if necessary)
• Ability to travel within Romania, to Bulgaria and Moldova.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Candidates must have a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period. If the employment is indeterminate, the work authorization should be permanent.
• Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide a local address as proof of residence in the specific city, region or country so that if selected, it will appear on the offer letter.
• Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory references and the ability to obtain and maintain reliability security clearance (including a criminal record check)
• Proof of right to work in ROMANIA and copies of educational qualifications may be required at the interview stage;
• Possess a valid Romanian driving license (category B or C)
• Occupational health clearance which must be maintained throughout the time of employment.
