Summary of position:
Under the general direction of the Regional Program Coordinator (RPC): the HAA processes medical reports of prospective immigrants, temporary residents and refugee/refugee claimants (herein called “applicants”) to Canada; provides initial determination of medical admissibility of applicants for review by the RPC or contract physician; provides final decision on medical admissibility for certain medical files; participates in research for and the preparation of reports and statistical information for submission to RPC and Migration Health Branch (HB); develops protocols and guidelines for the management of routine medical files and those requiring special handling; identifies impediments to and develops resolutions for the effective delivery of the Immigration Medical and Examiner programs; provides expert advice, assistance and support to Panel Physician (PP) network.

Essential qualifications:
SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Nursing Degree recognized by the Professional Regulations Commission/PRC (an equivalent nursing degree from an accredited university in another country may be considered)

Language:
• Fluency in English (read, write, speak)

Experience:
• At least two (2) years’ experience in clinical health care in a hospital setting
-OR-
• One (1) year’s experience in clinical health care, with an additional one year's experience in a public health program, community health program, and/or health research program

Asset Qualifications:
Preferred standing may be given to those candidates who also meet the following:
Education:
• Medical specialization, having passed the diplomate board examinations in: internal medicine, pulmonology, public health, infectious diseases, or other related medical specializations
• Master of Arts or Master of Science in Nursing, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Community Medicine or related disciplines
• Master’s degree in Administration, Public Administration or related disciplines
• Master in Public Health, Epidemiology and Statistics, Infectious Diseases, or Health Service Administration

Experience:
• At least 3 years’ experience in clinical health care related to the medical management of tuberculosis and/or chronic diseases

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
37.5 hours/week, Full Time
07:30 – 16:15 (Monday – Thursday)
07:30 – 12:00 (Friday)

• Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.

Condition(s) of Employment:
The successful candidate must:
1. Obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance from the Government of Canada. This involves, among other things, criminal record checks, credit checks and validation of qualifications.
2. If non-citizen of the Philippines, have the possession of or ability to procure a valid working permit in the Philippines for an indeterminate period.
3. Meet the employer’s medical requirements by undergoing a medical evaluation by a physician.
4. Valid Professional Nursing License

Area of selection:
This position is open to Philippine nationals and expatriates with or eligible for a work permit, who meet the Essential Qualifications and are currently residing in the Philippines.
