Summary of position:
Under general supervision, provides multi-task support services to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) programs and operations. Supports the delivery of IRCC’s Programs by assisting Officers for business and risk intelligence, program delivery and stewardship, and global engagement. Exercises initiative in seeking out information to complete files or tasks. Requires a general knowledge of established guidelines.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university, or an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and relevant work experience

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing and speaking)

Experience:
• Experience* in client service and/or dealing with the general public
• Experience* working in a general office environment
• Experience* working on a PC in a network environment, including experience using mail, word processing and spreadsheet applications

* Experience is defined as having the equivalent to at least three (3) months full time work in the last 2 years.

Abilities/skills:

Asset Qualifications:
Language:
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing and speaking)
• Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing and speaking)
• Proficiency in a language other than French or Mandarin (reading, speaking and listening)

Experience:
• Experience working and/or studying in an international environment (Previous employment in Canada or in another country; experience working for a multi-national company, international organization in China, or another Embassy)
• Experience working with Global Case Management System (GCMS) in a Canadian visa office

Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required
• Ability to travel as required
• Ability to complete file management activities including but not limited to: movement, storage, disposal of paper files

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance

Area of selection:
This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at their own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at their own expense.
