Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Property Manager at the Embassy of Canada to the Republic of Indonesia, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the completion of general repairs of buildings and assets under care of the Embassy of Canada in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting, ventilation and air conditioning, auto-vehicle mechanic, audio visual. The maintenance technician will also plan and prepare preventive maintenance programs as required, and assist the maintenance team members with the completion of various projects outside their area of expertise. The maintenance technician will also supervise and inspect work performed by contractors. Performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Screening Requirement:
Education:
• Graduation from a building/construction trade school.
• OR possession of a technical high school diploma (STM) or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
Language:
• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia (writing, speaking, reading)

Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of *recent experience in maintaining buildings, assets and equipment, including attending to emergency problems and long-term maintenance projects.
• Experience in performing maintenance and technical projects in at least 1 of the following functional areas: masonry, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, water sewage, auto-vehicle mechanics or audio-visual.
• Experience in planning and overseeing the maintenance logistics of moving and repairing furniture and/or other assets.
*Recent is defined as within the last three (3) years.
Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• MS Office (word, excel, outlook), internet.
• Knowledge of general asset/building life-cycles and routine maintenance schedules required to extend the life of assets.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and procedures.


Abilities/skills:
• Ability to develop preventive maintenance schedules.
• Ability to create, maintain and verify a basic inventory.
• Ability to provide/review a basic scope of work and cost estimates associated with a project.
• Ability to review project assessments and work plans, and to assign and schedule work to staff accordingly.
• Ability to supervise staff and/or contractors and to address and report performance and other issues as required.
• Ability to perform a wide range of repair tasks in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting, ventilation and air conditioning, auto-vehicle mechanic, audio visual.


Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Trade designation in one of the following fields: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, auto/vehicle mechanic.
• Experience in overseeing contractors.
• Basic English (writing, speaking, reading).

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Full Time, 40 hrs / week
• Working Hours: 07:15-16:30 (Monday – Thursday)
07:15-13:30 (Friday)
• Must be able to travel around the city and to the staff quarters.

• Must be available, able and willing to perform occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends)

Condition(s) of Employment:
The successful candidate must:
1. Have a valid “Reliability Status”, which will be granted after a security check (prior to appointment) as well as a local police clearance certification. The required level of security clearance must be maintained throughout the employment period.

2. Be able to work legally in Jakarta, Indonesia at the time of application. The Embassy of Canada to the Republic of Indonesia does not sponsor employment passes.
